Metal Halide Lamping
LED technology is amazing and its efficiency and versatility makes it destined to inherit the earth - as far as lighting is concerned. However its not the only show in town – incredibly there is a 40 year old technology that still competes for a place in the lighting efficiency line up! Metal Halide lamp technology has been around since the 1960's and produce high light output for their size, making them a compact, powerful, and efficient light source.
A crude comparison is a typical 35W metal halide lamp can give us twice the output of a 50W dichroic lamp. The colour of the lamp is inherently 'natural' ie. cool - but we can specify a wide variety of lamp colours. Typical lamp life is 10,000 hrs.
More commonly used in retail and outdoor applications; increasingly they have an application in residential / commercial spaces too. So why not use them?
For instance:
If you have a double height space that requires light to be projected further - over a stairwell? Alternatively an awkward double height shaped space that does not have a typical ceiling? In both cases a Metal Halide lamp can come to the rescue within budget too!
