Guide to Part L1a for lighting
Palermo 900 Click to enlarge

When a light fitting comes with a pull chord and is described as 'Switched', this means the fitting can be turned off at the fitting itself and not just by the master switch in the room itself. Localised switching on the light fittings gives the user the added control of turning off the light even if the other lights are on in the room, eg. of only required when looking into a mirror?

If a pull chord is undesired then the fitting can be set to the on position and then have the chord cut off or withdrawn back inside the fitting so it is not shown externally. The silicone or rubber grommet the chord passes through may need sealing with a small amount of silicone if this is done, to maintain the IP44 level of ingress protection of moisture. Any modification to a fitting is not endorsed by Orange Lighting Ltd, purely suggested for your own choice and information.
